About Team 2170

--This is last year's paragraph. We're working on a new one.--

The Glastonbury High School Titanium Tomahawks Robotics Team has twenty members this year with many new faces joining our veterans. We are all excited about this year’s competitive challenges. We all have been working hard this year to do our very best, and to overcome our competitors, triumphing to the top.
At the start of the 2009 season, the team leader, TJ Miller, and the business leader, Alex Opalka, decided to start raising money earlier in the year in order to get a financial head start. The money is used to purchase and repair the robot kit and buy advanced tools. The team set out, applying for grants from NASA and United Technologies Corporation (UTC). Fortunately we were granted money from UTC. Fundraising is still necessary for this year’s participation in the upcoming game. This year, we have a limited number of sponsors
The Titanium Tomahawks are now in their third year of competing at the robotics challenge. The game, Lunacy, is unique and more difficult compared to previous games. This is because the objective of the game is to score hollow balls inside basket-like trailers attached to robots. These hollow objects are called, ‘moon rocks,’ ‘empty cells,’ and, ‘super cells.’
All the robots shift on a ground that simulates the surface of the moon. Thus, the surface is powdered with a substance called regolith, which gives it 1/6 of the earth’s gravity. This makes is harder for the robots to be controlled, due to limited traction for the wheels.
Right now, we are in the process of constructing our robot and we know that we have an excellent plan. With our teamwork we can excel to our full potential! The new game was unveiled on January 3, 2009.
